Dear friend — we’re glad you’re here. Here’s a little about who we are, our history, and the people who keep our six churches going.

Our benefice covers five villages and six church buildings: Aslackby, Billingborough, Dowsby, Horbling, and Pointon with Sempringham. Please come along and meet us at one of our services or coffee mornings — if you’re new to the area, do make yourself known to the priest or one of the churchwardens.
Country villages are usually quiet places, but that doesn’t mean they’re dull. There’s plenty going on in our communities, and the church is a vital part of local life — we hope this site helps you find the services and activities you’re looking for.

Ours is the benefice where St Gilbert — founder of the only religious order ever established in England — was born in Sempringham between 1083 and 1089, the eldest son of a Norman knight. He was educated in France, returned to Lincolnshire to teach, and in 1131 founded a home for girls attached to his church at Sempringham. With the support of Pope Eugenius III he went on to found the Gilbertine Order, building thirteen monasteries in his lifetime. He died in 1189 and was canonised in 1202.
